Thanks for the link Fred,
I've just perused nevadavotedirect. Very comprehensive site. Some things spring to mind(these are not criticisms). It appears that the site endorses Daniel Rosen. Was he the only candidate who gave the pledge or was the site set up specifically for him. What if 10 candidates had signed. Would they all have been catered for at the site.
There is one concern regarding sites of this nature and that includes myverdict.net. That is the problem of voter validation.
If all site members register their correct identity, along with proof, you have the position where their anonymity is compromised. You have to record who has voted. I won't go into all the negatives, I'm sure your all aware of them.
Conversely, if you have an anonymous registration like myverdict.net, the problem is multiple registration attempts. A home may have 4 or 5 people allowed to vote and only have one computer. I regarded anonymity as so important that I don't even collect email addresses from users. This also means I have no way to contact them and they must remember to come back to the site of their own accord.
You'll notice that on my homepage there are messages from people who I have asked to provide oversight to myverdict.net, to try and ensure the integrity of the database. I have also asked local councillors but, as yet, have had no response from them.
I would be interested to know how the campaign for Daniel Rosen went and what sort of user numbers have been generated by NevadaVoteDirect since its launch.
