I have made the change as suggested by you. Regarding the pitfall of DD you have mentioned, I concur with you. Merely mechanical eliciting people's views may lead to a situation where mob mentality may overwhelm the democratic process.
This is the reason for my emphasis on 'conscience based political system'. The representative should not be merely a mechanical conduit for people's wishes as envisaged in the 'Vote America Direct' idea, which was brought to our notice by Mark. The mechanism should allow the representative to act upon his conscience and at the same time should have enough safeguards to keep him under control of the people who voted for him.
