Subject: Formulating the Mission Statement

Dear All,
Congratulations to the newly elected board members. While we are preparing to move forward I would like to get clarified about what exactly we are aiming at, since this has a bearing on formulating our mission statement. I find the following statement on the opening page of the newsletter: "Rule by political parties, whether one or several, can never be true democracy. Democracy can be based only on the will of citizens as individuals. For the first time in history this has now become possible thanks to modern communication and computer technologies." At the same time the provisional mission statement passed during the 2nd world conference of WDDM states that it will work for a truer democracy through direct participation of the people in matters of governance and legislative processes.

Does this mean that the WDDM visualizes a future where the political parties are done away with OR a future where political parties are restrained, allowing the people to express themselves more genuinely. I believe that the second scenario is more practical. I request all members to kindly confirm that they do believe in this approach. If this is confirmed then our mission statement needs to be tailored accordingly. We cannot wish away the political parties. We have to take them into account while seeking the support of the people. Keeping this in mind I have suggested a strategy in my posting on the forum (Re:Activism needed). I request all the members to consider the matter and give their responses.

Yours Truly,
PVR

God Bless us all
