Jim and Hamid,

why don't you come closer to reality? Please open your eyes, and you
will see:

Within the reality that exists, Politicians are NOT the employees of the
voters.
They should be, but are not.
Politicians in direct democracy sytem are NOT employed experts and
researchers
who support voters. They should be, but are not.

Therefore, Direct Democracy which we are minding about, is un-existent,
within
todays reality. It should be, but it is not.

Who are the culprit, of this non-existence? Maybe the main culprit is
ourselves,
as far as we are unable to question the authority. Which questioning
should start
from the crystal evidence that our |"politicians"are not aliens from a
distant planet.
They are the spontaneous leading authorities of the collectivity we live
in, whom
we accept as official authorities without being able to question whether
they are,
or are not, the employees of the voters, i.e., employed researchers and
experts
who support the voters. Within the existing reality, they support
themselves only -
except perhaps a too few only - in their enduring struggle for (money
and) power.

(As a practical consequence: dear DD lower and activist, stop please
asking the
politicians in office for they to build up Direct Democracy)

Regards,
ant

Affecting and influencing the society we are living in via politicans
can bot be called direct but indirect democracy.
Politicians in direct democracy sytem for me are employed experts and
researchers who support voters to make concious and right decisions by
giving them adequate information
about the subject they are voting for.
Voters don´t need to be experts about all political subjects but
should have access to all information and knowledge about the subject
they are voting for.

Thanks i you minded to read

Hi Ted,

Politicians are the employees of the voters because voters decide who
gets employed and voters pay the taxes.

This should be the starting point

Trying to build a roof (World Government) on a house of weak walls
and foundations is bound to fail.

There is a massive task ahead of educating the voters that there is a
real alternative in DD

Let all the members of WDDM inform us of the efforts that are being
made to educate people in their communities in DD

Build the strong foundations

Regards

Isn't this going to the whole list serve? It's as though it's gone into
a black hole. No heat, no light.

Happy New Year to all:

I get distressed just about every time I log into one of the WDDM
"conversations," the last one being the World Government conspiracy one.
There may well be such underfoot, but who cares. These guys can't even
run their own, much less a world, one.

The question remains as it did 10 years ago: how do we organize and get
funds to help develop forms of global and national democracy. This
forum never seems to get much beyond haggling over definitions. Why
don't we stick with Aristotle's? I do.

I offer two "real" projects that engage citizens globally about
democracy (forget "direct", it's redundant). Add "deliberative" because
it modernizes and supplements the concept. So, how about you folks
reading my book and making that at least one subject of your
"discussions." Why not "deliberate" on it instead ? Try me at
www.last-lost-empire.com. It is the web marketing tool for the book.
It will become much more interative by the end of January.

Also, check into www.americaspeaks.org and check out their latest
project, in connection with the UN, in using this superb model of
electronic democracy at the global level on global issues.

Maybe 2010 will find us discussing something of substance.

As for the Conference George, if I can't make it there in person, I can
sure be there via computer...and you should be thinking of how to engage
people around the workd that way as an important part of the face to
face conference. My online course in Political Economy uses streaming
video of classroom discussions, online materials, and emails from the
distance participants during the face to face discussions.

Hope ya'll take this in the spirit of comradeship. Time is running out
for our species.

Ted.

My dear Miroslav,

You have also my best and warmest wishes for the New year
2010, that happens to be the 10 years Jubileum since the
Establishment
of WDDM in Delphi, GREECE and we plan to organize in Greece the
5th Int. Congress on DD from Sept. 15, 2010 (International Day of
Democracy) until Sep. 19, 2010.

Are you going to participate and assist us in the Organising
Committee of this event? Everybody interested may express his
interest
for a small lecture, ideas for the agenda and participation in this
Organising Committee of the next WDDM Congress during next January.

Can you assist us Miroslav by publishing this open Invitation for a
direct democratic debate about this Congress through all WDDM
electronic channels (site, Forum etc.) ?

Best regards

Have a happy winter solstice holidays (a.k.a. Christmas, Hanuka,
Kwanzaa, ...)
and a very good year 2010. Let us hope that the mankind will finally
wake up
and start the transition to a truly democratic and sustainable
zero-growth future.
