What the hell is democracy?

G bush democracy is a corporation, (Corporatism) which owns all
(including the people) and a few elite make millions a year salary
demanding the minimum wage folk go without health care, education and
retirement.

Instead of property being owned by the people as originally in the US,
or the people owning all as in democratic socialism, bush has the
corporations own all, (Corporatism) thus "the people" have nothing
nor any control over anything. (Fascism)

Would we want a "democratic" world like that?

As I understand "democracy", it is the people totally in charge and
running their community. To accomplish this, the people design an
infrastructure which is called "government". Of course there are many
often opposite ideas of how to run "the government". Methods to
discuss, argue and present these ideas in public forum is necessary
for all to understand and make a choice. Decisions must be made and
they are made by referendum, the people each having one vote to record
their choice. The majority 50%+1 is the deciding factor.

Democracy = Government of, by and for the people.

Socialism has gotten a bad rap, the word makes some cringe. However,
there are some "social" elements needed in any community and are best
"governed" by the people of that community be it local or World.

Health, education and welfare (water, air, food, shelter, clothing)
are necessary for any human to exist and be a responsible community
member. This is why public education, healthcare, and welfare programs
are necessary and productive to the community.

If a child has health, education and welfare, that child can grow to
be a responsible member of the community. To remain productive, health
is necessary too. So some limited socialism is appropriate. It is
better to keep as much property as possible in the hands of the people
(ownership). (people control)

Supported by the community, these programs should be run by the
community. The amount of socialism in the community is the community's
decision. Roads, water, sewer, communication methods such as phones,
radio, TV, all media, the internet are all in the interest of
community and need to be regulated and supported by community. These
elements if unregulated could be used to control people by restricting
use or propaganda to influence people contrary to the community's
best interest.

This is why there have been laws restricting size and diversification
of corporations. In the US, these law have been largely reduced or
withdrawn allowing corporations unprecedented power. A very dangerous
precedent. Large multi national corporations could conceivably own
whole counties of property, controlling the people.

amounts to a power over his will." -- Alexander Hamilton
