Edwin Sakala,
Direct Democracy first needs to starts at the community level, for all of what l
put below most important think you need it people with the knowledge to pass
this on to the people,
To Have a Successful
Nation You Need: Key Productive powers of
a nation are 1/ Strong Agriculture
Sector 2/ Strong Mining Sector 3/ Strong Manufacturing Sector 4/
Government provide good infrastructure 5/ With a good supporting service
sector
Ensure that the Central Bank is the
major emitter of new money and that such emissions are only for productive
purposes – infrastructure, health, education, financing manufacturing and
primary industries
By allowing the nation’s Central Bank to trade
in competition with the Trading Banks and by ensuring that the Central Bank is
under the direct control of the Parliament.

RE:
OPEN REQUEST FOR FINANCIAL, MATERIAL AND MORAL SUPPORT
We are
requesting for assistance as above mentioned.
Introduction
ZDDM
is a well established and duly registered movement in Zambia which has been
advocating for Direct Democracy for the past six years.
Our Demanding
Current Political Situation
The political atmosphere is getting more
and more demanding for ways of avoiding internal conflicts in the foreseeable
future. The Zambian political situation is currently embroiled in a circus due
to the decision made close to two decades ago to shift from a one party
Participatory democracy to the failing Multi-party mode. The shift is
giving rise to mushrooming political parties which have replicated or similar
manifestoes. But national politics are characterized with bickering, insults
and even propaganda as each and every political party tries to win support
from citizens.
Of our prime concern is that these parties are led by
recycled former leaders who amassed wealth in respective national governments
and with support of other foreign governments. Ordinary citizens have been
reduced into paupers and mere spectators in as far as the political, social
and economic direction the country is taking.
The political situation
currently is worsened by the diverted national agenda which has been drifted
away from addressing the basic social economic welfare and concerns of the
people to the issues connected satisfying the interests of a few rich men
amidst continued quarrels.
We are also concerned that support to
political parties from countries like China has seen an influx of Chinese
people coming to own large hectors of land at the displacement of indigenous
local people. The Chinese also are involved in doing jobs which the local
people are qualified to do.
By coming out like this over the Chinese
people, we are not saying that we hate them. But like most Africans,
Zambians have more in common with Europe and other western countries
than China whose culture and way of life is a bit strange and not like that of
our long term and traditional friends who value human life.
The
bickering and political tension in Zambia is a source of great worry to us
ZDDM and many citizens as it has torn apart the once united Zambians. The
advocacy of ZDDM therefore is believed to have come as a source of relief to
many citizens who are tired of the political current quarrels which are not
adding economic value to the people.
Our request
Due to lack of
capacity to effectively carry the message about Direct Democracy across, we
are requesting to: you and through you to all those who care for the future of
direct democracy in the world and Zambia in particular to help us whether
financially, materially or technically and any other means to strengthen our
campaign for the immediate creation for a Government of National Unity in
Zambia. We foresee a situation where the country is being led into self
destruction due to not only fragile local political situation, but also
attributed to foreign forces which are influencing unhealthy political events
in the country. The future of the once haven of peace and land of Milk and
Honey is under severe threat and stress.
We are saddened that
Zambia which was rated among the four richest countries on the African
continent around 1974 is now dramatically ranking amongst the poorest in the
world at large and further rated as one of the poorest in the Southern Africa
Development Community-SADC with among the highest death rate. The majority
citizenry have been dehumanized and engulfed in untold poverty, unemployment
and disease like HIV/AIDS while those in leadership through political parties
spend much of the time on bickering and throwing unpalatable
language.
It is critical to note that Zambia is a constitutional
multi-party democratic country but there are more basic essentials
expectations by the general public which have not been experienced
yet.
Lastly and not least is that we are requesting for support not
only because we want to popularize the Direct Democracy idea across to the
grassroots, but that we also want to have a formidable stamina for
participating in all national elections including the coming 2011 tripartite
elections.
Your consideration to our request will greatly be
appreciated.
