Dear Lata, you again hit the nail on the head:

[quote Lata] “I support Direct Democracy but... when a hand full of people who all share an interest/passion for direct democracy can't get their act together, can't agree amongst themselves... what hope is there of inspiring the wider population?

My post to discuss the world issues from a “direct democracy” point of view seems to have scraped some bones out of the graveyard. I would laugh but it is far to important.

Education – can be pure propaganda as was my US academic brain washing. It began with a belief the courts and elected officials would do what is best for out “Nation”. What a crock. The money manipulators manipulate. [period]

In my opinion, Latin America is making headway, the people seem satisfied in the progress. Their method seems to be a democratic socialism which has brought health, education and methods for people to support themselves. Our US leaders seem to see this as horrible, a threat to their powers and must be stopped. There has been more WarRing talk from US in this regard.

But there is the rest of the world too. As we communicate on the Web, we see their issues are the same as ours; health, food, education. I believe “third world country's” have people who could manage quite well on their own country's resources if they were allowed to do so. Imagine buying oil and other commodities instead of WarRing for them.

The Bilderberg “theory” does follow the King and his Men dictatorship model of long ago. But of course we also have the Bush days to recall. Our US Congress surrendered to one persons dictate. Democracy anyone?

So yes, we need to have words with a common meaning to communicate amongst ourselves. [glossary] We also need decision making process which is “democratic”. If we do not even discuss these basic concepts it is unlikely we will progress to really difficult matters.

Kind regards, Bruce

Hi Bruce,
You chose a "buzz word" title, my friend. "World government" is bound to trigger a lot of talk back.

There is a huge chaotic movement out there that feeds on conspiracies about 9/11, climate change, Fema concentration camps, the Federal Reserve, the EU, the Billenberger group, the second amendment and so on. I am open to being persuaded by such theories because some of them make more sense than the official versions we are fed. However, I am equally willing to be sceptical about them. The point is that people like Alex Jones discredit any serious attempt at peaceful and gradual regime change not necessarily because of content but because of posture. This guy plays Star Wars soundtrack music whilst screaming that they want to take America away from you and create death camps. Whilst he gets the impression of gaining traction (because his audiences grow) the vast majority of people will increasingly look upon them like lunatics. Not just them but anybody who has any strong criticism about our "way of life". They put everything in the same bag, so if I have some doubts about taxation being the best solution to tackle climate change, they invite me in... as long as I am pro-gun, pro-life, etc.

It's a can of worms.

However, I am surprised to see that WDDM actually did something. Thank you Bruce and Mr. Kokkas.

Your call to action made me smile, though. I have been trying (and failing) to rouse people's interest in Direct Democracy for a while now, I have put thousands of hours into designing alternative electoral and initiative systems, created things like Citizen Mundi for those who find politics boring but enjoy having a say, etc (I quit Citizen Mundi too) I have even proposed ON HERE creating a Direct Democracy party aimed at the EU, giving up controversial beliefs I hold such as weighed voting in order to make it more general. Nobody even flinched. Oh.. I think I had a "good luck" message from the members who sign off as a couple. Martin and Mary, is it?

My conclusion is this:

People like to type their opinion in debate forums and news article comment sections, they enjoy having an opinion, they enjoy showing a little knowledge, teaching each other a little lesson in history, economics or science but... bottom line, that's as far as most of them are willing to go. One of our colleagues here tends to tell us that, from his experience, people tend to say they would prefer to have a say, rather than allow their representative to do the thinking and deciding for them. I would be surprised if anyone said they DON'T want to have a say, but that measures nothing.

For instance, this Glossary/Dictionary argument you've been engaged in recently (I have not taken part in it) seems a little bizarre to me. Sometimes I think that WDDM will still be here discussing the finer points of democratic theory whilst the world goes down in flames. Don't get me wrong. I support Direct Democracy but... when a hand full of people who all share an interest/passion for direct democracy can't get their act together, can't agree amongst themselves... what hope is there of inspiring the wider population?

In the end, people get the government they deserve... simply because it's in their hands. They are more powerful than any dictator and any army... if they come together. And we (WDDM) are living proof of the inability to do so.

Next time any of you want to actually do something, let me know.
It will come from the top down... and it will not be equitable.
Lata

Dear WDDM

Initially this group began with people concerned with “government” ruling our lives. The initial idea was to build “from the bottom up” strong community's which would command government democratically. However, people are busy with family, jobs, education, and living. The number of “activists” is small. But we still realize that government can be a very dangerous thing if left uncontrolled. This WDDM grass roots movement has developed stronger community's and begun to have impact on the “upper” powers.

The time has come to advocate the people's power. World Parliament is gaining ground and will soon be commissioned. If we are going to maintain control of our World, we must act now. George Kokkas was able to install the “million signature referendum” [my label] into the EU by his diligence. We need to do this with whatever “World Government” mechanism that is brought forth. And, it is soon to be:

In an October New York Times editorial entitled “We Can Do It,” Ki-moon wrote that efforts to impose restrictions on CO2 emissions “Must include an equitable global governance structure.”

Fellow globalist and environmentalist David De Mayer Rothschild also disclosed the agenda for global governance in a recent interview with Bloomberg news.

“It’s past the point of talking. We know historically that the global governance sort of agenda to these issues is very hard to… with all the best intentions it’s very hard to actually activate.” Rothschild noted.

New EU President Herman Van Rompuy said earlier this month that the Copenhagen conference was, “The first step towards the global management of our planet.”

Similarly, Al Gore said in a speech earlier this year that attempts to regulate CO2 emissions would be driven through “global governance and global agreements.”

Ten years ago, people who warned about a coming new world order bossed by a global government were called paranoid conspiracy theorists. Is the march towards a one world government still a conspiracy theory, even as its architects openly announce its implementation?

We are from 'round the world' and if we make a 'platform' of democracy by the people we can unite all people to demand our democratic rights. We need to explain this in simple short terms which are easily understood and discussed. We need to have banners and slogans as we join to live in this world together. We need a global campaign with advertisement and news media participating. We need to do this now, or it will not be done.

Shall we do it?

Bruce
