Dear Mr.Tonini,
I apologize for late answer, I have just returned
from Czeh Republic where I do not have the internet. My newsletter is regularly
published on the web by Mr. Bernard Clayson (bernard-clayson(at)shuartfarm.fsnet.co.uk),
I suggest that you arrange with him details concerning information to your
contacts. I have witnessed several attempts to establish international DD
organization. So far, the success has been very limited. There is one I am in
touch with (WDDM), but not active. You could discuss your ideas with the
webmaster and organizer, Mr.Kolar (wddm(at)mkolar.org). I see my role in the movement
only as the editor of the Newsletter and particularly as collaborator with the
local Czech organization and party. My financial means are very limited. I would
attend a conference only if it would focus on e-DDD with the participation of
Prof.Ted Becker, USA, and other experts promoting this approach.
I will, of course, replace your e-mail address as
requested.
I hope we´ll stay in touch.
With my best regards,
Jiri Polak

Dmocratic affairs Dear George,
Thanks a lot, your activities and proposals are most welcome. The meeting
is designed a s network meeting which gives many opportunities for contacts
and exchange. Regarding the academic forum, this is organised by the C2D
center at Zurich university. Contact there is Uwe Serdült ( uwe.serdult(at)zda.uzh.ch).
For practical issues and registrations please use the appropriate tools
on the website ( www.iri-europe.org).
Please feel free to forward the invitation and information of our seminar
as well as the public event (and the academic forum) to your worldwide
network.
Regarding your envisaged short statement during the EWednesday afternoon
round, please let me know, which initiative you would like to introduce - as
you are involved in many things, you will should choose the most concrete and
illustrative one.
Best regards
Bruno

Dear Bruno,
we are really
interested in participating in the Aaru Conference in Switzerland, not only for the
5 minutes report about our ideas and tactics in Greece and
Europe(Wednesday), but also in the next days, we could offer in the
public debate (Thursday) and for the Balkan issues (on Friday). Please
inform me for the contacts I should have for the
rest.
I think that it would
be good to have ALSO, a separate panel and
discussion about the CICDD ( Continuing International Congress on
Direct Democracy) that celebrates this year its 10th
anniversary since the 1st International Conference in Prague, Pribram
(1998), as well as WDDM ( www. world-wide-democray.net) that continues
offering its services to direct democracy worldwide,
though its site and diferent practices
among its members.I wonder why haven't you thought about
it, when progamming the whole week of Democracy? Believe
me that it will have a big interest
for all the participants to have the opportunity
to hear the _expression_ of our experiences at the
end of the already scheduled programme on Saturday aftennoon and
evening Oct 4th or maybe Sunday morning ,
Oct 5th.

Subject: News letter & more
Dear Mr Polak,
I received by e-mail from Antonio Rossin a copy
of your newsletter, which is very interesting
Just two comments on this.
1
I want to send your newsletter around
on the web in Italy, because this would add prestige to our
ideas,
but you mention my business
e-mail, and the name of the Company I work for ( Pnr Italia is my
Company )
in your September report when talking about
Democrazia Federale.
These kind of information I find inappropriate
to show in a political document.
Would you please be so kind as to replace them
with just the following e-mail Tobuz(at)libero.it ?
Thankyou in advance
2
My plans are to contact several Movements
active in the DD world ( many links I have found your newsletter
)
and try to arrange a common action for the
next elections, in as many countries as possible all over
Europe.
However, this kind of cohordination requires a
pivot point, which means a point where a theoretical
frame
with the basic principles of DD is
safeguarded and a committee with the required charism and experience is available
for the purpose of keeping all actions
originating from different places in line with the
targets.
I believe your newsletter might be the virtual
place, and you in person would be a good President for the
committee.
Let me invite you for a dinner when I am
in Sweden, and feel free to give me your comments and
suggestions.
I remain at your disposal, and please accept in
the meantime
my best regards
Federico Tonini

Dear Mr Polak
it is a pity you are not attending the
Congress, it would have been
a nice occasion for meeting
you.
From what you write I understand that you
think the outcome of any
referendum ( intended as an _expression_ of
the people will ) must
automatically result into a political
decision, to be executed as an
irrevocable and immediately executable
order.
In this case we are exactly in the same
position.
I am now working into translating into
English our ideas, as expressed
in our website.
I shall attend the meeting, where
I expect to meet George Kokkas and other
people in the hope they are not limiting
their action within long and
theoretical discussions but have the desire
to transfer the ideas of
Direct Democracy and Federalism into
practice, as we are doing in Italy.
You mention that you will talk about our
movement in your bulletin,
is this maybe published into a website
?
Can you briefly describe your activity in
this field ?
I will come to Brno for business in
November, and maybe we shall
have a
chance to meet.
I wait to read from you, and in the
meantime please accept
my best regards.

Dear Mr.Tonini,
thank you for your letter! I have already
hear about the Arau Conference from Mr.George Kokkas. Unfortunately, I
could not afford such a trip and besides, evidently, the conference
will only focus on I&R, while I promote the idea that deliberation
should be included in the referendum process. There already is an
establish term - e-DDD instead of simply DD.
I will include the information oaboutyour
movement in the next issue of my newsletter.
With my best
regards,
Jiri Polak

Dear Mr Polak,
I read with extreme interest your
writings about Direct Democracy, because of the fact we have started
in Italy a political movement ( www.democrazia-federale.it
) based on exactly the same ideas and with a similar
program.
I ask myself if you shall attend the
coming DD meeting in Aarau / Switzerland.
It would be an honour and a pleasure to
meet you and discuss together the possible ways for a
cooperation+
With my best regards
