In fact I think Bruce has done us a favor, bringing the group down to some kind of reality. We've been philosophizing about democracy, and about the purpose of the list, and Bruce is forcing us to actually deal with a  control issue that affects us personally. But let's be aware: it is an old and antidemocratic temptation, that of
one's
controlling, or even dismissing as philosophy, any practice which one
does
not understand -- or which one does understand as different from one's
own
