Dear Georges,

I appologize for my antagonistic responce.
That said, I still disagree with you.

Google wisecracks? Google is a search engine, not capable of wisecracking.
The vatious news papers interviewing people from France seems a valid
representation.

None of the people interviewed made any statement about Chirac, they
were more concerned about the EU Government taking control of their
lives.

Nothing to apologise about. As you saw, I was not offended
but amused and answered in joke mode. GWI is of course
a joke, however every joke carries some implications:
While it's good to inform oneself via Google, one should
not take Google messages as God's word, nor as facts, but
apply to them the filter of reason. Especially to interviews.

You may roughly divide the interviewed into

1.VIP's, i.e. politicians, writers, sociologists, political
scientists, etc.

2.PITS's (People In The Streets)

First group will continue to play political highbrow games
and do what they always did: lie. At least with very few
exceptions of "reasonable VIP's".

PITS's are usually not educated to express themselves
rigorously and utter mainly their gut reactions. With very
few exceptions of "reasonable PITS's".

Now, speaking with several "reasonables" of both groups
I noticed that they were saying the same things, while
implying some other things which they were taking as
granted for the French.

To resume:

All were rejecting via the Constitution the very concept
of Chirac's Europe which, like his internal policy, ruined
the economy, exploded the exclusion, eroded the real
value of salaries, brought the social security to bankruptcy,
encouraged outsourcing of industries, opened the country to
wild immigration, made Islamists to the strongest social
group, etc. Which, as you rightly say, abandoned their
lives to EU control.

Reasonable PITS's were talking about the ruin of their
lives, implying the rest.

Reasonable VIP's WITHOUT EXCEPTION started by requesting
Chirac's resignation.
"Second President after de Gaulle who lost Referendum should
resign, like de Gaulle did."
Only, Chirac lacks what de Gaulle had: the greatness.
One of them said (loose quote): "I was the toughest militant
of OUI, but now I understood that we did a bad job and am
happy that NON won. We shall sit down and listening to the
people try to make NON an opening towards a real OUI".

Not a single NON partisan wanted to abandon EU. All,
without exception said that NON SAVED EU by killing
noxious, corrupted utopia and opening the way to conceiving
some viable, democratic and efficient Europe.

And all with exception of de Villepin and one or two other
Chirac's parrots aggreed that the Constitution was muddled
on purpose beyond understanding threshold. However, one
in it was clear: extend Chirac's uncrowned noxious kingdom
over Europe. And that nobody reasonable wanted.

Cheers
Georges.
