It is a book that describes the results a huge survey conducted by Gallup International among 53,749 citizens in 68 countries on five continents! Five thousand interviewers were involved with the massive project, conducted between May and July 2005.
The findings: most voters (more than 50% in perhaps all the countries) ARE unhappy with their politicians and are unhappy with the state of what is called the democratic countries - they believe that their "democratic" politicians do not govern according to the people's will. Suprise: the average African voting in a suspect election is happier with the performanance of their government than the average Canadian.
Canadian CBC radio had an interview today with Jean-Marc Leger who supervised this survey in their Dispatches program. You can listen to the whole interesting interview in Real audio here: [www.cbc.ca]
