Additions:
Maybe every generation thinks they live in extraordinary times when the fate of the world and the species is at stake.
I think it's safe to say this is true of our times.
The idea that no matter what you do the sun will be shinning tomorrow morning is no longer consistent.
Direct Democracy is not a question of sentimental visions of equality or some kind of Utopia that unrealistic people cling to because they don't want to face WHAT IS. It will be a question of survival.
There is no time left to waste

Deletions:
When I graduated in economics in 1996 I felt my degree was useless to my personal goals and passions, so I went back to University and graduated in Politics 3 years later. I also took a 2 year Masters degree in European Politics. For the last 15 years I've been a songwriter but I've always been passionate about politics.

A few months ago I started writing a fiction novel about a guy who creates a website devoted to direct democracy. Over the course of my research I realised that my personal idiology is slightly closer to anarchy than direct democracy. Let me explain, I don't mean anarchy as it's commonly known, I don't like chaos, I don't like violence but Anarchy (like democracy) has been twisted and missused to mean something it doesn't mean.Anarchy is the absence of leaders and followers. That's where democracy kicks in, for me.

In my book, the main character's political model is based on direct democracy but with two fundamental differences which I'm willing to discuss. First, I reached the conclusion that anonimity is a necessary condition to the creation of a real democracy, human beings are easily led by charm, character and loyalties that hugelly distort the democratic ideal. Secondly, the character's political model takes the shape of a WEIGHTED voting system, where participation and knowledge are rewarded porportionally. Any takers on that?

The reason why I'm fascinated by European Politics is that, despite its democratic deficit, the European Union is the only "constitution" that's not finished, it's still being shaped and, therefore, it presents the best opportunity to improve upon a meaningfull political model.

By the way, my character was saddened by the small membership of WDDM and realised that EVERYTHING needs marketing these days. I'm glad this website is not shadowing a specific legislature but I feel that a website that was more of a GAME would attract more people. My book is not finished and any input from WDDM members would be very welcome.
